Football Game Preview: Hanson Beavers vs. Canistota Hawks

The Hanson Beavers will head out on the road to challenge the Canistota Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hanson's defense has only allowed 14.3 points per game this season, so Canistota's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Hanson is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Dakota's top teams: Viborg/Hurley, who was ranked 15th at the time (Hanson was ranked 21st). The Beavers lost 28-6 to the Cougars on Friday. The Beavers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Canistota, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in September. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Chester 22-20. The win continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Flyers: they've now won three in a row.

Hanson now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Canistota, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-4.

Hanson didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Canistota in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with an 11-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Beavers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
