Baseball Recap: Carson's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Carson had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They blew past the Gardena Panthers 13-1. The Colts have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Panthers, too.

Carson let Xavier Allen and Nate Ruan run wild. Allen went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Ruan went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs Ruan has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Fernando Barajas, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Carson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.

Carson's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Gardena, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Carson beat Gardena by a score of 18-1 on Friday.
