High school football Top 25 composite rankings

National powers roll on as two new teams enter rankings.

Very little shuffling happened this week as the top five teams in this week's Composite Top 25 rolled on. The biggest victory among Top 5 teams was
St. John's impressive 37-34, five-OT thriller over Miami Central. Yet, the Cadets didn't gain any ground against Nos. 1-3 — St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.), Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) and IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) — nor did Miami Central lose any ground with the quality loss.
The Ascenders were set to meet St. John's in Washington, D.C., this weekend, but
Hurricane Florence has postponed the contest indefinitely. Dozens of other games along the eastern seaboard also have been affected due to the Category 4 storm expected to hit land between Thursday night and Friday morning.
Only schools recognized by two or more media outlets are eligible for
inclusion in the composite rankings. Teams were assigned a score of 40
for each media outlet that did not recognize them as part of their Top
25, rewarding teams that received consensus acclaim.
