Volleyball Recap: Spearfish Falls Short Against Ranked Stevens

Spearfish faced Stevens in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Spartans fell 3-1 to the Raiders. The Spartans were not able to make up for their defeat to the Raiders from their previous meeting back in November of 2024.

Spearfish started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 25-20, 25-12, 25-20.

Adelyn Bouman paced Spearfish's offense, picking up 11 kills. Bouman got some help from Kali Reiners and her 29 assists. Reiners was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Spearfish's loss dropped their record down to 19-12. As for Stevens, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 26-9.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Spearfish is set to square off against their familiar foe Douglas at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Stevens will take on rival Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
