Basketball Recap: Citrus Takes a Loss

Citrus lost against Nature Coast Tech back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Citrus Hurricanes fell just short of the Nature Coast Tech Sharks by a score of 33-31. That's two games in a row now that the Hurricanes have lost by exactly two points.

Despite the defeat, Citrus saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Demi Williamson posted 16 points, to go along with six rebounds and four steals. That was a full 51.6% of Citrus' points, marking the fifth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendyl Hunnicutt, who had six points and six rebounds.

Citrus' loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Nature Coast Tech, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4.

Citrus will take on Weeki Wachee at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Nature Coast Tech, they will challenge Springstead at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Springstead will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Nature Coast Tech surely won't give up without a fight.
