Baseball Recap: Salem Comes Up Short

After flying high against Danvers on Monday, Salem came back down to earth. The Witches lost 12-2 to the Beverly Panthers on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Witches have suffered since April 11th.

Rocco Ryan and Shea Christel stepped up to the plate in a big way. Ryan went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run, while Christel went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Christel is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played.

Salem's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Beverly, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Salem will welcome Leominster at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Beverly, they will be playing at home against Methuen at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
