Football Recap: Make It Four in a Row for St. Mary's

St. Mary not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since August 29th (when they won 48-0). They blew past the Severn School Admirals 36-13. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Saints' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland football rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Admirals are ranked 70th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Mary's to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joseph 'LJ' Evans, who rushed for 84 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Those 84 rushing yards gave Evans a new career-high. Another back making a difference was Jamal Epps, who rushed for 112 yards and one score.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: St. Mary's was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 217 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

The victory was the fourth in a row for St. Mary's, bringing their record up to 7-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.0 points over those games. As for Severn School, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Coming up, St. Mary's will venture away from home to challenge McDonogh on Friday. Severn School does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
