Softball Recap: Wawasee Has No Trouble Against Goshen

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Plymouth, Wawasee was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They put the hurt on the Goshen RedHawks with a sharp 11-4 win. With that victory, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Audra Weaver, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Melissa Bontrager, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Wawasee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matches.

Wawasee's record is now 5-10. As for Goshen, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Wawasee didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-0 loss against East Noble on the 3rd. As for Goshen, they will take on NorthWood at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The RedHawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
