Baseball Recap: Salisbury Township Has No Trouble Against Palisades

Salisbury Township had lost three games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 11-7 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They blew past the Palisades Pirates 10-4. Considering the Falcons have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Salisbury Township got a massive performance out of Markus Jones, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Michael Stauffer also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

As for Palisades, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games.

On Palisades' side, Greg Borgeson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Borgeson is becoming a predictor of the Pirates' success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 7-9 when he doesn't).

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Salisbury Township will host Catasauqua at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Palisades, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Saucon Valley at 4:00 p.m. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Pirates' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
