Volleyball Game Preview: Questa Wildcats vs. Penasco Panthers + Official Tickets

The Questa Wildcats will take on the Penasco Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Questa has four straight victories, Penasco has 12 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Thursday, Questa was able to grind out a solid win over Mesa Vista, taking the game 3-1.

While Questa might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Mesa Vista scored at least 21 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 27-25, 19-25, 25-23.

Questa had a senior duo take command as Janae Dominguez had 25 digs and four aces and Jocelyne Ortega had 28 digs and two assists. Ortega is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maliyah Dominguez, who had 13 digs and 13 assists.

Questa was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Penasco lost 3-0 to Mesa Vista on Tuesday.

Penasco took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-15, 25-20.

Questa's victory bumped their record up to 17-4. As for Penasco, their loss dropped their record down to 5-17.

Everything went Questa's way against Penasco when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Questa made off with a 3-0 win. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
