Basketball Recap: Newcomerstown Takes a Loss

Newcomerstown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 91-42 defeat at the hands of the Marietta Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 674th, while the Tigers are ranked 97th).

Newcomerstown's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Marietta, their win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2.

Newcomerstown won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Tuscarawas Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Marietta, they will also get right back to it: they'll square off against John Glenn at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in John Glenn's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
