League recap: Upperman tops DeKalb County to extend winning streak

Adding to the longest winning streak in AA District 8 this week, Upperman beat DeKalb County 61-14. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Bees.

Upperman took down the Tigers 61-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Connor York threw for 163 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 179 yards during the win.

Upperman's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Bees feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. York has thrown for 1,539 yards and 23 touchdowns this season, while Robert Stepehenson has 13 catches for 249 yards. York also leads the league in rushing with 1,676 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Smith County takes on DeKalb County. The Owls are currently in third, while Steve Trapp's team is in second.

Ben Herron's team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,557 from 3,015. The improvement was the result of a 61-14 victory over the Tigers last week.
