Baseball Game Preview: Perkins Pirates vs. Norwalk Truckers

The Perkins Pirates will head out to challenge the Norwalk Truckers at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Perkins is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Things were looking good for Perkins after they put the first run on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bellevue. The Pirates' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Perkins saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braxden Martin, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Norwalk waltzed into their contest on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Blue Streaks.

Norwalk pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Perkins, their loss dropped their record down to 12-5.

Perkins was able to grind out a solid victory over Norwalk in their previous meeting back in April, winning 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
