Football Recap: Rogers Falls Despite Big Games from Derek Lloyd and Brayden Ward + How To Watch

Rogers and North Providence pushed the score to 41-35 the last time they played North Providence, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Vikings fell 14-7 to the Cougars. The game was a 7-7 toss-up at halftime, but the Vikings couldn't quite close it out.

Rogers' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Brayden Ward, who rushed for 111 yards on only ten carries, and Derek Lloyd, who rushed for 59 yards and one TD on only seven carries.

Rogers dropped their record down to 1-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for North Providence, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Rogers has already played their next matchup, a 41-7 loss against Moses Brown on the 10th. As for North Providence, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Chariho at 6:00 p.m. on the 17th. The Chargers' defense has only allowed 12 points per game this season, so the Cougars' offense will have their work cut out for them.
