Softball Recap: Elizabeth Comes Up Short

Elizabeth extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 5-9-1. They lost 21-10 to the Oak Knoll Royals. The Minutemen were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Royals earlier this season, when they won 12-0.

As for Oak Knoll, their win bumped their record up to 7-8. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Oak Knoll's part, they let Amelia Flood and Kaitlin Wincko run wild. Flood got on base in all five of her plate appearances with six RBI, four runs, and one triple, while Wincko went 4-for-5 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those six RBI gave Wincko a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abby Han, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Coming up, Elizabeth will head out on the road to challenge Union Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Oak Knoll, they will take on Summit at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hilltoppers will roll in looking for their 17th straight victory, something the Royals surely won't give up without a fight.
