Softball Recap: Proviso West Comes Up Short

Proviso West extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 20 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-7 in the process. They lost 18-0 to the Glenbard West Hilltoppers. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 17-0 to the Hilltoppers when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Glenbard West, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-4. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Glenbard West's part, Olivia Salerno looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. Salerno has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ainslie Bobroff was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two triples. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Megan Stieglitz was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Glenbard West beat Proviso West by a score of 19-0 later that day.
