Baseball Game Preview: St. Joseph Wildcats vs. Wildwood Catholic Crusaders

For the second straight game, St. Joseph will face off against Wildwood Catholic. The Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Joseph is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

St. Joseph took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Wildwood Catholic a 3-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won six in a row.

The result came thanks to Liam Hurley's shutout, as he gave up just five hits and racked up ten Ks. St. Joseph is undefeated when Hurley posts eight or more strikeouts, but 6-7 otherwise.

At the plate, Nick Crimi was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jack Cassidy, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.

St. Joseph's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Wildwood Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
