Volleyball Recap: R.J. Reynolds Falls Despite Big Games from Sylvia Fitzgerald and Kendall Mccluney

R.J. Reynolds was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mount Tabor Spartans. If the Demons were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Spartans when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

R.J. Reynolds couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Mount Tabor a tough time in the fourth set. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-17, 21-25, 31-29.

R.J. Reynolds' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kendall McCluney, who had eight aces, and Sylvia Fitzgerald, who had 22 kills, six digs, and two aces. Fitzgerald has been hot recently, having posted five or more kills the last four times she's played.

R.J. Reynolds' loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Mount Tabor, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

R.J. Reynolds didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Ashley Hall on the 15th. Mount Tabor has also already played their next match (against North Surry), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
