Baseball Recap: Highland Gets the Win

Highland made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Rocky Mountain, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Highland was the clear victor by a 7-1 margin over Rocky Mountain on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Rams: when they faced off against the Grizzlies last Saturday, they had to take a 8-2 defeat.

Lana Alvarico made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cannon Eddie, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That run marked the first that he scored this season. Another player making a difference was Mason Payne, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Highland's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Rocky Mountain, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-3 record.

Coincidentally, Highland and Rocky Mountain will both be playing Central the next time they take the field. Highland will head out to face Central at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, while Rocky Mountain will play them later in the day, at 6:00 p.m.
