Basketball Recap: Dylan Nyberg's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cromwell over Mountain Iron-Buhl

Cromwell lost against Mountain Iron-Buhl back in February of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Cromwell Cardinals fell 80-68 to the Mountain Iron-Buhl Rangers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (64), the Cardinals still had to take the loss.

Cromwell lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Dylan Nyberg, who went 6 of 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 27 points. Thanks to that strong game, Nyberg now owns an excellent 45.4% shooting accuracy. Brady Dahl was another key player, putting up 19 points in addition to seven assists and five boards.

Tj Duchamp was his usual excellent self, going 7 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 33 points and seven rebounds for Mountain Iron-Buhl. Duchamp's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Chris King, who went 8 of 11 to rack up 16 points and eight boards.

Cromwell's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Mountain Iron-Buhl, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-4.

Looking ahead, Cromwell won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Cook County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Cromwell knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matches -- so hopefully Cook County likes a good challenge. As for Mountain Iron-Buhl, they are taking a road trip to face off against Nashwauk-Keewatin at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th.
