Baseball Recap: Poly Comes Up Short

Poly fell victim to Arlington and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bears have suffered against the Lions since February 25, 2022.

Jacob DeVincenzo was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

Poly's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Arlington, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poly will venture away from home to square off against Paloma Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Bears' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Arlington, they are taking a road trip to take on Lakeside at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions are facing the Lancers at the right time seeing as the Lancers are stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
