Softball Game Preview: Raymond Rams vs. Somersworth Toppers

The Raymond Rams will venture away from home to square off against the Somersworth Toppers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Raymond will be strutting in after a victory while Somersworth will be coming in after a defeat.

Raymond let Trinity stack six runs on them in the first inning on Tuesday but luckily Raymond prevailed anyway. The Rams came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pioneers, sneaking past 9-8.

Sophie Huynh was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Paige Lemire also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Prospect Mountain hit Somersworth with a five-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Toppers came up short against the Timberwolves, falling 9-1. The loss continues a trend for the Toppers in their meetings with the Timberwolves: they've now lost eight in a row.

Raymond is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Somersworth, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.

Raymond came out on top in a nail-biter against Somersworth in their previous matchup on May 7th, sneaking past 5-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
