Football Game Preview: Middleburg Broncos vs. Fleming Island Golden Eagles

The Middleburg Broncos will head out to face off against the Fleming Island Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Middleburg's defense has only allowed 13.8 points per game this season, so Fleming Island's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row dating back to last season, Middleburg turned things around against Keystone Heights on Thursday. They came out on top against the Indians by a score of 14-7. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but the Broncos were the (much) better team in the second half.

Middleburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Raychel Hansen, who threw for 191 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 38 yards. Payton Morton also helped with two touchdowns in total.

Meanwhile, Fleming Island waltzed into their game on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 12-7 W against the Mustangs.

Fleming Island pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.7 points on average over those games. As for Middleburg, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Middleburg came up short against Fleming Island in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 13-0. Can Middleburg avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
