Basketball Recap: Dakobe White's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Evart over Beal City

After flying high against Brethren last Wednesday, Evart came back down to earth. The Evart Wildcats took a 73-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Beal City Aggies on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Aggies: they've now lost nine in a row.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dakobe White, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Anderson, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 14 points.

Even though they lost, Evart smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

Evart's loss dropped their record down to 6-1. As for Beal City, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

After both having extra time off, Evart and McBain will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. One thing working in Evart's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Beal City, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-42 defeat against Sacred Heart Academy on the 21st.
