Baseball Game Preview: Chautauqua Lake Eagles vs. Barker Bulldogs

The Chautauqua Lake Eagles will square off against the Barker Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Chautauqua Lake has three straight wins, Barker has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Monday, Chautauqua Lake made easy work of Cassadaga Valley and carried off a 13-5 victory.

Michael Jauss made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has become a key player for Chautauqua Lake: the team is 4-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Jauss was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Devin Hewes was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cayden Blackman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Chautauqua Lake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Barker came up short against Royalton-Hartland on Monday, falling 11-1.

Chautauqua Lake's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Barker, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.
