Baseball Game Preview: Waubonsie Valley Warriors vs. Neuqua Valley Wildcats

For the second straight game, Waubonsie Valley will face off against Neuqua Valley. The Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Waubonsie Valley managed to slip by Neuqua Valley the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Warriors wound up with the same score they had in their last game (10-4), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

For Neuqua Valley's part, Jack Martin tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits.

At the plate, Joe Barkley was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Andy Barkley was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Neuqua Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matches.

Neuqua Valley pushed their record up to 8-8-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Waubonsie Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.
