Football Recap: Luis Vargas Leads Wakefield's Defense on Friday

Wakefield extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They came up short against the Enloe Eagles, falling 40-14. The Wolverines were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2022.

Although Wakefield took the loss, they still got scores from Grayson Clopton and Luis Vargas.

Wakefield didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Vargas, Mike Smarra, and James Williams picked up one apiece. Vargas got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

As for Enloe, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.0 points over those games.

Enloe's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ziyeir Mclean-Leach, who rushed for 110 yards and two TDs on only 12 carries. Chase White also helped out as he racked up 109 rushing yards.
