Baseball Game Preview: Webb Spartans vs. Sweetwater Wildcats

The Webb Spartans will challenge the Sweetwater Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Webb is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

Webb came into this matchup off a tough ten-run defeat on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Knoxville Catholic by a score of 7-5 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Spartans have suffered since March 27th.

Meanwhile, Sweetwater fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Anderson County on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (12-4), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Webb's record is now 7-17. As for Sweetwater, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-7 record this season.

Webb skirted past Sweetwater 5-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
