Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Oldham County's Third in Last Four Outings

The Oldham County Colonels earned an 8-3 victory over the Wayne County Cardinals on Tuesday.

Clay Cartledge was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.

In other batting news, Jackson Martin was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Oldham County is undefeated when Martin posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah McCall, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Oldham County has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. This is the second loss in a row for Wayne County and nudges their season record down to 4-4.
