Basketball Recap: Colorado Academy Takes a Loss

Colorado Academy was the 59-45 winner over Jefferson Academy when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Colorado Academy Mustangs took a 45-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jefferson Academy Jaguars on Friday.

Despite the loss, Colorado Academy still got an impressive performance from Mikel Miller, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 13 points along with seven boards and three blocks. Miller is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted three or more in the last eight games he's played. Clyde Love was another key player, putting up nine points and six rebounds.

Jefferson Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jimeto Orji, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Quaratino, who posted ten points and five rebounds.

Colorado Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Jefferson Academy, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home.

Colorado Academy will square off against Forge Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Forge Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 72.8 points per game this season. As for Jefferson Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 47-33 victory against Littleton on the 25th.
