Memorial suffers fifth straight loss on the road

Recap: Memorial Red Devils vs. Garfield G-Men

The Memorial Red Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 64-45 bruising from Garfield. Memorial has struggled against Garfield recently, as their matchup on Monday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Memorial lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Angeliz Diaz, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds and six assists. Diaz is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelis Espada, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Memorial were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Memorial's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-13. As for Garfield, their victory bumped their record up to 3-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Memorial on the road again on Thursday and play against Champion at 6:15 p.m. on January 25th. Champion presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Memorial in Ohio (Champion is ranked 266th, while Memorial is ranked 762nd). As for Garfield, they will head out on the road to square off against Liberty at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
