Basketball Recap: Canterbury Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Canterbury can now relate to. They lost 61-40 to the Evangelical Christian Sentinels on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Sentinels: they've now lost seven in a row.

Despite the loss, Canterbury still got an impressive performance from Aileen Warchol, who went 5-for-11 en route to 12 points along with five boards and three steals. That's the most points Warchol has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaya Langford, who had ten points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Evangelical Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maddie O'Berski, who went 8-for-14 to rack up 18 points and five rebounds. Kellisia Grant was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Canterbury's defeat dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Evangelical Christian, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 18-7.

Coming up, Canterbury will square off against Neumann at 6:00 p.m. on February 13th. As for Evangelical Christian, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 41-26 win against First Baptist Academy on the 7th.
