Basketball Recap: Windham Extends Winning Streak to Three

Windham had won two straight games and Anden Gonzalez did his part to make it three on Saturday. The Windham Whippets took their contest with ease, bagging a 91-55 win over the Lyman Memorial Bulldogs thanks in part to Gonzalez, who went 9 for 20 on his way to 24 points in addition to six steals and five assists. His afternoon made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Malcolm Hunter, who went 5 of 9 en route to 15 points along with five assists and five boards. Hunter is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season.

When it comes to explaining why Lyman Memorial lost, don't look at Kevin Botticello. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 29 points and 11 rebounds. Those 29 points gave Botticello a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Theo Taylor, who posted seven points and six boards.

Windham is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Lyman Memorial, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Windham will take on Ledyard at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lyman Memorial, they will face off against Tourtellotte Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
