Baseball Recap: Covenant Christian Takes a Loss

Covenant Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 7-2 to the Frankfort Hot Dogs.

Weston Laughlin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Covenant Christian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Ferkinhoff, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Barrett Beyers also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Covenant Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Frankfort, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Covenant Christian will venture away from home to take on Perry Meridian at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Falcons' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Frankfort, they will square off against Tri-West Hendricks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
