Volleyball Game Preview: Alton Redbirds vs. Belleville West Maroons

The Alton Redbirds will challenge the Belleville West Maroons at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Alton will be strutting in after a win while Belleville West will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Alton turned things around against Father McGivney Catholic on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Griffins. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Redbirds have posted since May 16, 2024.

Alton had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-17, 25-15.

Meanwhile, Belleville West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 2-0 to Edwardsville.

The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-19.

Belleville West's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Alton, their victory bumped their record up to 2-11.
