Volleyball Recap: Cardinal Newman Extends Winning Streak to Four

Cardinal Newman had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on the Somerset College Prep Academy Spartans with a sharp 3-0 win on Tuesday. The victory was nothing new for the Crusaders as they're now sitting on four straight.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-9, 25-10.

Ava Castro paced Cardinal Newman's offense, picking up 22 kills. Castro got some help from Dayana Acevedo and her 28 assists. Acevedo was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Cardinal Newman's win bumped their record up to 21-3. As for Somerset College Prep Academy, they dropped their record down to 12-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Cardinal Newman will head out to challenge King's Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Somerset College Prep Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
