Basketball Game Preview: Bethel Jaguars vs. Salesian College Preparatory Pride

Bethel is 0-3 against Salesian College Preparatory since April of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Bethel Jaguars will square off against the Salesian College Preparatory Pride at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Thursday, Bethel was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 60-56 to Pinole Valley.

Saint Mary's typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Salesian College Preparatory proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 61-50. Given the Pride's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while the Panthers are ranked 149th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Salesian College Preparatory pushed their record up to 21-2 with the victory, which was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 35.8 points. As for Bethel, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.

Bethel was dealt a bruising 82-34 loss at the hands of Salesian College Preparatory in their previous meeting back in January. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Bethel was down 46-17.
