Baseball Recap: Metuchen Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

While Metuchen's victory against Carteret wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Ramblers 5-3. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Ramblers: they've now won nine in a row.

Matt Jelleme was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Cooper Crawford was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Metuchen was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .387 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Metuchen pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Carteret, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-8.

Metuchen has already played their next match, an 18-1 win against Rahway on the 1st. Hopefully Carteret paid attention to the Bulldogs' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
