Oviedo had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Gulf Breeze Dolphins on Wednesday. The win was familiar territory for the Lions, who have now won seven matchups in a row.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Oviedo who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 17-25, 25-23, 17-25, 15-10.

Autumn Westfall paced Oviedo's offense, picking up 13 kills. Westfall got some help from Delaney Sloane and her 43 assists. Anderson Hitt and Eva Woolm kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Gulf Breeze lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Brynn Pinkston, who had 14 assists and eight digs. She has been hot recently, having posted 14 or more assists the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Ciolino, who had 12 digs and ten assists.

Oviedo's victory bumped their record up to 23-6. As for Gulf Breeze, the defeat snapped their winning streak at eight matches and leaves them with a 26-4 record.

Coming up, after both having extra time off, Oviedo and Sunlake will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Gulf Breeze does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
