Baseball Game Preview: Catonsville Comets vs. Perry Hall Gators

The Catonsville Comets are taking a road trip to face off against the Perry Hall Gators at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Catonsville took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They blew past Kenwood 8-0. The Comets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Perry Hall entered their tilt with Lansdowne on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 10-5.

Austen Widomski made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Perry Hall's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Widomski was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Widomski wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Shane Gibson, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Gibson also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another was Kade Gibson, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Catonsville picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 6-7. As for Perry Hall, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
