League recap: Cox throws longest pass in league this season for Bandys

Fans got a thrill when Devan Cox and Dillon Street connected against East Lincoln. The connection was good for 84 yards, the longest such play in 2A Conference 3 this season.

Newton-Conover was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to sixth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Red Devils defeated West Caldwell 47-7.

Jake McRee threw for 207 yards and 4 touchdowns. He went 11-26 with 4 interceptions.

McRee put up the best numbers through the air as Maiden topped Bunker Hill. McRee's favorite target this week was Justus Woods, who caught 5 passes for 103 yards.

Maiden's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Blue Devils feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. McRee has thrown for 1,232 yards and 21 touchdowns this season, while Alex White has 18 catches for 397 yards.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when West Lincoln takes on the Bears. The Rebels are currently in second, while Bunker Hill is in fourth.

Lincolnton moved up to 177 from 215 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A Conference 3. The Wolves were able to move up by beating West Lincoln 21-13.
