Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Justin Gaxiola and Jhonthan Garcia Lead Maryvale to Victory

While Maryvale's victory against Browne wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers won by a set and slipped past the Bruins 3-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in April.

Maryvale had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 21-25, 25-19, 25-19, 15-11.

Maryvale was led to victory by Jhonthan Garcia and Justin Gaxiola. Garcia had 24 assists and six digs, while Gaxiola had 19 digs, 16 kills, two aces, and one block. Gaxiola has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 13 times he's played. Juan Vazquez also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.

Maryvale has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. As for Browne, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-6.

As of now, neither Maryvale nor the Bruins have any future games scheduled.
