Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Fillmore

Fillmore had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Santa Clara Saints as they made off with a 13-5 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 17-0 back in March.

Ivan Contreras and Thomas Alamillo made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Contreras struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Alamillo tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Fillmore is 5-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-17 otherwise. At bat, Contreras went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Alamillo went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Contreras a new career-high.

In other batting news, JJ Jasso was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Jared Jaimes, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Fillmore kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.8 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 12.4.

Fillmore's win bumped their record up to 8-19. As for Santa Clara, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-23 record this season.

As of now, neither Fillmore nor Santa Clara have any future games scheduled.
