Basketball Game Preview: Josey Eagles vs. Laney Wildcats

Josey is 9-1 against Laney since February of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Josey Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Laney Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Josey is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.8 points per game this season.

Josey is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Thomson just ended the team's five-game winning streak last Friday. They fell 61-49 to the Bulldogs. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bulldogs 16-10 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Josey had strong showings from Shaniya Sanders, who shot 6-for-9 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 boards, and Kerri Fluellen, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Fluellen is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 46 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Keasia Henderson, who posted five points and eight assists.

Meanwhile, Laney came up short against Thomson on Saturday and fell 59-46. The Wildcats have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Josey's defeat ended an 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-3. As for Laney, they now have a losing record at 9-10.

Everything came up roses for Josey against Laney in their previous meeting on January 10th, as the team secured an 80-34 win. In that game, Josey amassed a halftime lead of 47-12, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
