Basketball Recap: Northmont Thunderbolts vs. Springfield Wildcats
Northmont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They took a 54-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Springfield Wildcats. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thunderbolts this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 78-54 back in December of 2024.
Springfield got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Milly Portis out in front who posted 17 points and seven steals. Portis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. Jada Crockran was another key player, putting up six points along with five assists and five steals.
Northmont's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Springfield, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
Northmont wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 53-28 victory against National Trail on the 27th. As for Springfield, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-52 win against Centerville on the 27th.
