Softball Recap: Ocosta Wins Going Away Against Wahkiakum

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Naselle, Ocosta was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Wahkiakum Mules 16-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-8 back in March.

Joanah Rosander was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Rosander was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jolissa Schlegel, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Blake, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Ocosta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Ocosta is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Wahkiakum, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ocosta will square off against Onalaska at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Wahkiakum, they will face off against North Beach at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
