Marionville won the last time they faced Verona and things went their way on Friday too. The Comets put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 11-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Comets.

Trayce Silk spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Garrisen Smith was a standout: he scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brodie Wilson, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.

Marionville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.

Marionville's victory bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Verona, they are on a 23-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marionville will venture away from home to square off against Miller at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Verona, they will head out to challenge Greenfield at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
