Softball Recap: Solon Find Success

Solon came out on top against Wickliffe on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Comets narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Blue Devils 5-4.

Grace Gerhard was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off ten hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kennedy Prelog, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

Solon's victory bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Wickliffe, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Solon will square off against North Royalton at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Comets are facing the Bears at the right time seeing as the Bears are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Wickliffe, they will take on Chagrin Falls in a tournament on Wednesday.
