Blake Peters commands the offense for a Huskies win

Recap: Ashe County Huskies vs. Johnson County Longhorns

The Ashe County Huskies had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Johnson County by a score of 64-53 on Saturday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Ashe County also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.

Ashe County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Blake Peters out in front who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Peters scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Harrison Langdon, who scored 14 points.

Ashe County's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Johnson County, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ashe County and Starmount will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Starmount is ranked 507th, while Ashe County is ranked 497th). Johnson County is on the road again on Saturday and play against Volunteer at 10:30 a.m. on January 6th. Volunteer is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
