Softball Recap: Roosevelt Finds Playoff Glory Versus Seattle Prep

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Roosevelt walked away with it. They blew past the Seattle Prep Panthers 13-2 on Wednesday. Considering the Roughriders have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Perrie Ausk was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Samantha Wright, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Madison Lee, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Roosevelt hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The win (which was Roosevelt's fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Seattle Prep, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.

As of now, neither Roosevelt nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
